Marvin Agustin is one of those people I admire. Not because of his acting skills (sorry to say) but because of his success as an entrepreneur. He has opened a number of establishments - John & Yoko, Sumo Sam, Marciano's and Mr. Kurosawa, all of which are quite popular in the Metro. Quite recently, this actor turned entrepreneur/chef has a latest addition to his growing family - Komrad.
As my officemates (A & K) and I enter the restaurant, we found ourselves facing a giant picture of Mao Zedong. We also noticed stars were printed on the tables. What a bold communist theme - something definitely different! :)
Komrad Milk Tea - The sweetness was just too much, even for a sweet tooth like me. We asked for more milk hoping that it would do the trick. It did not work. Water perhaps?
Sichuan Boiled Fish Bowl - Look at all those chili! Luckily, we asked the waiter to tone down the spiciness. And yes, that's toning it down. :)
General Tso's Chicken - All three of us enjoyed this dish. It was tasty and just had the right amount of spice. :)
Kung Pao Shrimp Balls - I'm a huge fan of shrimp dishes but I'm also allergic to them. But when I saw how delicious those big fat shrimps looked, I just had to take a bite! Oh well.. I always have Claritin with me so I'm covered. :) I also noticed that most of their dishes have a common ingredient - sesame seeds!
Fried Hunan Cumin Dumpling - I believe this will either be a hit or a miss because of the cumin since not everyone is a fan. But I must say that the smell is not that strong. My officemate A liked this. He even said that he'd come back to this restaurant just because of these dumplings. You can also order them steamed. :)
Overall, food was good.
Located in Eastwood Mall, remember to dine with your comrades at Komrad (where almost everything is spicy). :)
